Corpse Flower Blooming in Houston Tx this week. 2010

Marg took this picture of "Lois" the Corpse Flower, (Amorphophallus Titanum) It is called Corpse Flower  because it has a rotten smell like a dead dog,  just before it blooms then the smell lessens towards the end.  It is in the Museum in Houston Texas which has been  open to the public 24 hours 7 days a week for the last few weeks. Over 68,000 visited this rare flower over the last week. It grew 69 inches, about 4 inches a day the last week.  It will only bloom once in it's life time.
Don Kennedy sent me a site with live video when this started and have enjoyed this rare wonder. Last one to bloom in the USA was back in 1939 (year I was born). Thanks for the Picture Marg and update.
